Gloucester fined for ineligible player
Aviva Premiership Rugby club Gloucester have been fined £5,000 and given a suspended two-point deduction for fielding an incorrectly registered player in a Premiership match. A Rugby Football Union (RFU) panel ruled Argentina lock Mariano Galarza did not hold effective registration when selected for Gloucester's 23-6 Premiership defeat at Sale on March 29. The panel said the breach "an administrative error" and not done to gain competitive advantage and suspended the points deduction until the end of the 2016-17 season. Galarza who joined Gloucester in the summer of 2014 made debut only in March due to long-term shoulder trouble.

 Belgian footballer collapses during match Belgium footballer Gregory Mertens is in a critical condition after suffering a cardiac arrest while playing for Sporting Lokeren's reserve side against Genk on Monday. The 24-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest and received CPR on the pitch, according to the Belgian newspaper HLN, causing the match against to be postponed. Play was stopped 25 minutes in after the former under-21 international defender suddenly collapsed. He was rushed to hospital and is “fighting for his life.” Mertens joined Lokeren in the summer from Cercle Brugge, and has played in 15 league games this term, as well as against Hull City in the Europa League in August.

Indonesia made ultimate arrangements on Tuesday to kill eight foreigners by firing squad, as crying family members paid final visits to their loved ones and ambulances taking white coffins reached at the drug convicts' prison. Relatives of Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan, the Australian ringleaders of the so-called "Bali Nine" heroin trafficking group, arrived at Nusakambangan jail requesting for mercy for their loved ones, with Sukumaran's sister fainting in sorrow. They are among nine prisoners, involving nationals from Brazil, the Philippines, Nigeria and one Indonesian, experiencing imminent execution.

Police have now a way to identify suspects who are identical twins. Scientists at the University of Huddersfield in the United Kingdom have discovered a new way to identify differences in the genetic profiles of identical twins. Now scientists have found a test involving melting DNA that could tell identical twins apart in a matter of hours and reveal who that genetic material came from. The team has determined that heating genes will break hydrogen bonds that form due to a person's environment and habits. The technique however requires a relatively large sample.

Rapper Snoop Dogg feels like the cartoon character 'Popeye' when he smokes marijuana, and described the drug as an "attribute" to his music. Asked whether smoking the drug is conducive to a productive career, Dogg said: "The weed doesn't take away; it's an attribute, an accolade. It's like Popeye. You know Popeye the Sailor Man? He'd squeeze that can and pop that spinach and go into work mode. That's what this is." Liverpool’s Sturridge could miss rest of season
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said Daniel Sturridge may miss the rest of the Premier League season due to injury. The 25 year old has been sidelined by hip and thigh injuries and has not played since the FA Cup quarter-final win over Blackburn on 8 April, making just 18 appearances in all competitions. Rodgers said on Monday: “It’s been difficult, Daniel is a good lad who wants to play and help the team but it’s been one of those seasons for him. He’s been very unfortunate and we’ll have to monitor day by day and see where he’s at. “When he’s been fit, he’s been brilliant, it’s just about getting him back on a consistent basis. Whether that’s this season, or pre-season, has to be seen.”
